Myths Associated with Pacha Camac
Pacha Camac was believed to have created the first man and woman, but forgot to give them food and the man died. The woman cursed Pacha Camac, accusing him of neglect, and Pacha Camac made her fertile. Later his unpopularity increased when he killed the First Woman’s son and cut the corpse into pieces, each of which became a separate fruit or vegetable plant. Pacha Camac killed the women when her second son, Wichama, escaped. The son then sought revenge and drove Pacha Camac into the ocean.
In another myth, Vichama is Pacha Camac's half-brother. Vichama's mother was murdered by Pacha Camac and he revenged himself by turning all Pachacamac's people into rocks. But feeling somewhat lonely, he laid three eggs and a new race of people hatched out.
